CURRENT POSITION AND EMERGING TRENDS OF WATERSAVING IN THE YANGTZE BASIN

Abstract: Becoming more and more serious because of nonmatching water resources distribution and serious water pollution, the contradiction between supply and demand of water resources in the Yangtze Basin has become the priority of the basin authority and various local governments.At present, the study on watersaving has just started in the Yangtze Basin. According to the characteristics of water resources in Yangtze Basin, the paper summarizes the significance of water-saving and discusses the necessity of watersaving and analyzes the level of water-saving under the present conditions in the Yangtze Basin. Furthermore, according to the present problems, such as the lack of watersaving ideas and investment, low water prices and lax running rules, law and conscience and so on, some methods are proposed in the paper.
