THE FISHERIES CHARACTERS AND RESOURCE STATUS OF NANJISHAN NATURAL RESERVE IN POYANG LAKE

Abstract: Fish resources in Nanjishan natural reserve were investigated from 2003 to 2004. A total of 58 species belonging to 6 orders, 14 families and 43 genus were found . Within the fishes, there are 37 cyprinoid fish, accounting for 63.79% of the total, and 21 species of other families 36.21% of total. The community structure and the fish individuals become smaller in the natural reserve. The average weight, growth index K and biomass of the main fishes were measured and the reasons for the smaller size and the measures for protection and propagation were analyzed. The purpose of the investigation is to understand the present status of the fish resources in Poyang lake watershed.
